Hazem’s expertise in strategy formulation and implementation to transform cities and local government entities. ​

​Hazem was a member of the WEF’s Global Future Council on Cities of Tomorrow for five years. He was also the co-chair for the working group on city connectivity, as part of the ITU and UNESE’s initiative Smart Sustainable Cities. He was a key contributor to the ISO 32170 for smart infrastructure. Hazem is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Global Parliament of Mayors.​

Along with his client work, Hazem is also the co-author of the book “Delivering Sustainable Competitiveness – Revisiting the organising capacity of cities”. Hazem has also been the project adviser for the World Economic Forum’s research for the Future of Urban Development of Services, publishing the following thought leadership reports: the “Impact of 5G on Cities”, “The Circular Economy in Cities”, “The Sharing Economy in Cities”, “Harnessing Public-Private Cooperation to Deliver the New Urban Agenda”, “Future Cities and Urban Services: Shaping the Future of Urban Development & Services” and many others.​

He has been hosted as a cities experts on several occasions by leading media channels such as the BBC, CNBC, CNN, Russia Today and Channel News Asia.​
