Startup Coach and Co Chapter Director – Startup Grind Doha
Indica has over 25 years of professional experience, where he started his career in the pharmaceutical industry and then for almost 20 years been in the technology industry, both in the private and public sector. He is a business and marketing professional being a Fellow of the Chartered institute of Marketing, UK and the Chartered Institute of Management, UK. He holds a Master in Business Administration and is a certified lean startup coach.
Starting his career in Sri Lanka, he was part of the initial team that launched Sri Lanka’s first e-Commerce company and part of Microsoft Sri Lanka before moving to Qatar in 2008. In Qatar he led the marketing for a large system integrator company and led the launching of Qatar’s first Apple reseller store in 2008. His last assignment was with the Ministry of Information & Communications Technology for 8 years, where he was part of many national programs related to technology, SME Digital Transformation, entrepreneurship and innovation. During this time, he headed a government tech incubator in Qatar, where 30 plus startups and idea stage teams were incubated.
Indica currently works for the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy. He was part of a team that managed the Challenge22 program, which is a startup innovation programme that opened the door for entrepreneurs and innovators to explore solutions that directly enhance and address the needs of fan experience related to mega events including the FIFA World Cup 2022™.
Indica has been part of the Startup Ecosystem in Qatar for the past 8 years plus and has been actively involved in coaching and mentoring startups with the incubators and accelerators in Qatar. He is closely connected to the local and regional angel investor network and has also been a judge and mentor for many local, regional and global startup initiatives. He is also the Co-Chapter Director of Startup Grind Doha and an Angel Investor.
