2nd Cohort

Launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the TASMU Accelerator serves as a catalyst for start-ups as part of MCIT’s flagship initiative, Smart Qatar.

Focusing on priority sectors, the TASMU Accelerator fuels Qatar's digital ecosystem by nurturing global growth-stage start-ups with a six-month program, equipping visionary entrepreneurs with the tools and resources needed for successful market entry and growth in Qatar.

2nd Cohort Tracks

Health Focus Themes
  1. Precision Medicine and Healthcare Innovation:
    a)
    Startups offer precision medicine technologies and solutions that tailor medical treatments to individual patients based on their genetic makeup, lifestyle, and other factors.

    b) Innovations in diagnostics, personalized medicine, and genomics that can contribute to Qatar's goal of advancing its global positioning in precision medicine.

  2. Patient Experience Enhancement:
    a)
     Startups offer technologies and services that enhance the overall patient experience. This could include mobile health apps, telemedicine platforms, and other digital tools that improve accessibility, communication, and engagement between patients and healthcare providers.

    b) Solutions that streamline appointment scheduling, providing remote monitoring, and offering personalized health information contributing to enhancing patient experience.

  3. Healthcare Standards and Regulation Technology:
    a)
     Solutions that contribute to strengthening clinical standards and regulations in healthcare service delivery. This may involve digital platforms for compliance monitoring, data analytics tools for quality assessment, and technologies that ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

    b) Innovations in regulatory technology (RegTech) specific to healthcare that can support Qatar's objective of improving the standards and oversight of healthcare services.

  4. Value-Based Healthcare and Private Insurance Solutions:
    a)
     Value-based healthcare services that align with Qatar's strategy for financial sustainability and efficiency. This could involve innovative payment models, outcome-driven reimbursement systems, and technologies that support value-based care initiatives.

    b) Digital platforms for insurance management, personalized health plans, and data-driven wellness programs.

Transportation & Logistics Focus Themes
  1. E-commerce Logistics and Distribution:
    Specialized solutions for e-commerce logistics, addressing the growing demand for efficient distribution of goods. This could involve optimizing last-mile delivery, implementing inventory management systems tailored for e-commerce, and enhancing overall supply chain efficiency for online retailers.
  2. Aircraft Parts Logistics and High-Value Items:
    Given Qatar's emphasis on re-exporting high-value items such as aircraft parts, startups can specialize in logistics solutions tailored to the transportation and handling of valuable and sensitive cargo. This may involve secure and monitored transportation methods, specialized packaging, and digital tracking systems.
  3. Port Operations Optimization:
    Technologies that leverage advancements in automation, data analytics, and real-time monitoring. This includes smart port management systems, predictive maintenance for port equipment, and blockchain applications to enhance transparency in the movement of goods through ports.
  4. Digitalization and Automation Across Transport Modes:
    Startups can focus on providing digitalization and automation solutions across various transport modes. This involves technologies for automated warehousing activities, implementing digital platforms for end-to-end visibility in the supply chain, and utilizing data analytics for predictive planning and decision-making.
Tourism Focus Themes
  1. Family-Focused Tourism Solutions:
    Family-oriented tourism solutions that cater to the unique characteristics of Qatar as a destination of choice for families. This may involve digital platforms for family-friendly attractions, travel planning apps tailored for families, and innovative services that enhance the overall family travel experience.
  2. MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) Segment Enhancements:
    Startups can specialize in technologies and services that enhance the MICE segment. This could include virtual and augmented reality solutions for virtual meetings and exhibitions, event management platforms, and innovative incentives and engagement programs for conference attendees.
  3. Sports Tourism Innovations:
    Given Qatar's focus on specialized demand segments within sports tourism, startups can explore innovations such as sports event management platforms, sports-themed travel packages, and technologies that enhance the overall sports tourism experience. This may also involve leveraging emerging technologies like augmented reality for sports-related attractions.
  4. Service Excellence and Visitor Experience Enhancement:
    Startups can focus on elevating service excellence in the tourism sector by developing customer service platforms, AI-driven chatbots for tourist assistance, and technologies that enhance communication between tourists and service providers. Additionally, innovations that contribute to an unparalleled visitor experience, such as personalized travel itineraries and cultural immersion programs, can be explored.

  1. Sustainable Resources: An environmentally aware society, running on efficient operations with the ability to plan ahead.
  2. Digital Urbanization: Urban infrastructure designed with sustainability at the core.
  3. Environmental Stewardship: Embedded sustainable practices and environmental protection into citizens’ daily lives.

Who Should Apply?

For 2024 cohort the program focuses on four primary sectors. TASMU Accelerator invited growth-stage startups in the health, transportation & logistics, environment, and tourism industries to take part in its journey. Startups we work with have:

  • Technology (AI, ML, IoT, Big Data, Blockchain) focused with a digital solution at its core
  • Address themes in one or more of the focus industries
  • Company established and legally registered in Qatar or their countries of origin for a minimum of 1 year and no more than 3 years
  • Technical and business team members onboarded with at least one key member dedicated for the program
  • Technologically feasible and functional MVP
  • Generated traction through revenue from clearly identified customer base
  • Closed angel investment round
  • Growth potential in Qatar and aligned with TASMU focus sectors and themes
